Nita Theatre

The Crescent, one of a handful of theaters once located in the Logan Square neighborhood along Milwaukee Avenue, opened about 1912. By around 1940, it had been renamed the Nita, and continued operating into the early 50s, before it closed.

Today, the former theater building houses a retail business.

The Nita originally had closer to 800 seats. It now houses the Carniceria la Mejor grocery. Two doors down is Chicago Salvage, which was formerly a smaller theater, the Drake.

Back in the 80’s THS was compiling a comprehensive Chicago theater directory. If that American Classic guy was taking pictures of things like the Nita I wonder if he had access to it.
