The first venue to show motion pictures was the Grand Opera House that had launched on September 17, 1907 as a live music and theatre venue. It found success showing silent films and eventually faced competition in 1924 from the Tokay Theatre. The Grand Opera House lasted 20 years before not making the conversion to sound films. It was repurposed as the Masonic Lodge.
