The Princess Theatre likely began as the Grand Theatre for A.J. Poehill on April 19, 1916. In the early-1920’s, it became the Community Theatre under new ownership. Likely at the end of a 15-year lease agreement, “Tommy” Thompson took over the theatre giving it an extensive remodel and renaming it the Princess Theatre. On February 11, 1947, the Princess Theatre burned down in a $125,000 explosion that led to the demolition of the property. Thompson rebuilt as the Thompson Theatre.
