Located in Penistone, 8 miles west of Barnsley. Unwin’s Hall opened on 28th December 1911 in a conversion of a former gas fittings showroom. It had been used to screen films in 1903 and again in 1905. In 1915 it became the Assembly Rooms and after some renovation in 1918 it became the Picture Palace. The interior of the building was gutted by a fire on 12th July 1923. Repairs were carried ou, but it never re-opened as a cinema and it went over to use as a warehouse and workshop.
