Opened on May 24, 1989, this nondescript six-plex dates back to the hard charging Rand Theatres Circuit which had invaded Texas with quickly-built multiplexes in 1989. Like the Nokoma Village, the Rand’s creative business model blew out forcing its closure when the city took action for non-payment of utilities in October of 1989. By that point, the theatre wasn’t getting any current features from studios who had also caught on to the Rand situation.
The Bandera Cinema 6 was a three-chain loser passing from locked out Rand to Santikos/Act III to UA/Regal. Regal put an end to its Regal Bandera Exchange Theatre 6 in 2000 and it was demolished two years later.

I saw 1989’s “Batman” there that June. I didn’t realize that it closed so quickly.
This opened on May 24th, 1989 and closed on October 25th, 1989 due to the Rand Theatres fraud as described at the Nokoma Village listing. It reopened with a western-themed celebration on May 18th, 1990 and closed in 2000. Two cinemas were THX certified during the Act III-Santikos-Regal era. Grand opening ads posted.
