Built on the site of the Teatro Dante Alighieri (1883) which presented Italian drama theatre. The Teatro Brown was opened in 1903. It soon went over to cinema use as the Cine Brown which closed in 1920.
The building stood empty until it was restored and re-opened as the Cine Teatro Brown on 26th October 2009. It now presents alternative live theatre and independent films.
