Located at Baileys Crossroads. The Sunset Drive-In was opened on August 22, 1949 with jeanne Crain in “You Were Meant for Me”. It was operated by Henry Wilson. By 1957 it was operated by Redstone Drive-In Theaters. In the early-1970’s business had slowed and it began screening adult movies. In April 1974 the local authorities forced the drive-in to close.

The drive-in was replaced by Hechingers Lumber Yard. Now retail on the site

This theatre was never called The Arlington Boulevard Drive In (that is The Lee Highway Drive In in Merrifield) The Sunset Drive In was on Virginia Route 7, Leesburg Pike at Baileys Cross Roads several miles from Arlington Blvd (US-50)

Opened August 22nd, 1949, and closed in April 1974. Adult movies in their final years. Ad posted.
