No-Name Theatre

Franklinton got its first full-time movie theatre launching August 30, 1913 with a working name of The New Picture Show. A contest was held at the new build theater to give it a name. On September 6, 1913 its name is changed to the No-Name Moving Picture Theatre.

Just two days prior to theatre’s third anniversary, fire starting two doors down that consumed the former post office also took out the theatre and the neighboring Burris Hotel on August 28, 1916. The No-Name Theatre moved to the former Idle Hour Theatre location, another downtown theatre that had started as a vaudeville house and then incorporated film.
