Jack Minckler launched Bogalusa’s first drive-in on December 31, 1949 just a half mile away from the city limits. Originally planned as Minckler’s Drive-In, the venue opened as Jack’s Drive-In operating long enough to raise the ire of local hardtop theater owner Meyer Berenson of the Redwood Theatre and State Theatre who plunked the City Drive-In within the city limits and just about 1.25 miles away from Jack’s just a year later.
But Jack had the last laugh as reports had the theatre lasting some 30 years while the City Drive-In had apparently gone away within 15 years. Further, as of 2020’s, the speaker poles, box office and snack bar were still on the former Jack’s Drive-In premises although completely ensconced by a foliage that had rendered the property - for all intents and purposes - as wild. There was no evidence of the City Drive-In’s existence. With a lot of clean-up, affixing a screen tower to its base and re-roofing the snack bar, adding working projection and sound…. well, it doesn’t look like Jack’s is rife for a comeback.

A slightly closer address is 59417 LA-10, Bogalusa, LA.
This puts it on the property at the end of what was the entrance road.
The screen is no longer present and if anything else exists under the trees, it cannot be see from the aerial view.
