1958 painting by Craig Carpenter‎.

Opened in 1905 as the Star Theatre, a 190-seat vaudeville house which later also showed silent films, this theatre was renamed the Oregon Theatre in the early-1940’s, and also increased its size to over 400, when it was expanded into the next-door former grocery store space.

In 1965, the Oregon Theatre was acquired by the Kerasotes Theatres chain, which operated it until 1981, when it was closed. Afterward, the former movie house was turned into an electronics store.

Its sloping floor and triangular-shaped marquee (which now advertises the name of the store) still remain.

After occupying the old Oregon Theatre building for many years, Bob’s TV & Appliance has vacated the building. The building is now vacant and “for sale.” See the new photo I uploaded.

Google Street View mistakenly goes to 5th Street, so one has to scroll around to find 4th Street and the former theatre building. None of the available edit options allow that correction to be made.
