The Plaza Theatre was located on the corner of south portion of Alamo Plaza. Opened on October 1, 1911, the theatre included its own orchestra and piano players, and included a stage area where plays took places as well. Gallery seating was only 10 cents a person.
Sadly, on December 28, 1938, the Plaza Theatre was scheduled for demolition that day, according to the local paper, in order to make way for expansion of the Joske’s store. (Now currently Dillard’s). There are no traces of the theatre that sat on the corner.

From the early 1900s a postcard image of the Plaza Theatre in San Antonio.

In the place of Dillard’s, there are various stores/restaurants within the old building, which was “shelled out” almost ten years ago.
