Located in Raphoe, County Donegal. The Ritz Cinema was opened by Mr Barry (presumably one half of Wilton and Barry) in 1946 in the former Hamilton Hall. It had a RCA sound system and 350 seats, although this had reduced to 274 by 1956. One source states that it closed in the early-1960’s but is still listed in the Kine Year Book of 1971. Films you could see in 1961 included “The Ten Commandments”, “Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves” and “Don’t Panic Chaps”. Prices that year were 1/8d for the stalls, 2/3d for the balcony and 10d for the pit. The building is still standing but it is not clear what the usage is.
