Located in Ballina, County Mayo. The Savoy Cinema opened in February 1947 and was run by the Ballina Cinema Company. Designed by Robinson & Keefe at a cost of £35,000, it had 886 seats in stadium style and an RCA sound system fitted. In the early-1950’s it passed to Amalgamated Cinemas and under new operators it was twinned in 1979 when it was offering tickets for £1 on Thursday nights. It closed on 5th September 2001 when it is given as having 257 seats. It was demolished in 2007 and the site is now occupied by the local newspaper’s offices and a department store.
