Located in Castleblaney, County Cavan. The huge edifice that is the Lyric Cinema is first listed in the 1949 edition of the Kine Year Book as the Castleblayney Cinema and is still listed as such in the last edition in 1971. It had 495 seats, although owing to its size you would think it would be at least double this, and was equipped with an RCA sound system. It staged plays in the 1950’s, bingo in the 1960’s and was still screening films in 1983. The building was home to an amusement arcade and Chinese take-away in 2012.
