Casino Cinema

The Casino Cinema was the largest suburban cinema in Dublin and was designed by John E. Collins. It was clad in red brick and had a large car park as part of the scheme. The auditorium had 1,418 seats in the stalls and 492 in the balcony. It opened on 25th November 1955 with Edmund Purdom in “The Student Prince” and closed around 1972. It was converted to a Superquinn supermarket with a new floor covering the stalls area from the balcony edge to the proscenium with the balcony being used for offices. The front was bricked up with a new entrance created at the side. The current status of the building’s use is unclear.
