The Crest Theatre, operated by Roy E. Benson and Cy Fangman, opened June 27, 1925, with “Charley’s Aunt", staring Syd Chaplin. The 265-seat theatre was located in a remodeled and sloped building formerly occupied by Spurgeon Mercantile.
The News Advertiser noted the Crest Theatre showed “Alias Jimmy Valentine”, the first talking picture in Creston, with the Movietone system, on February 7, 1929.
The Crest Theatre closed in March 1934 and on April 17 the News Advertiser said its furnishings were being moved to the Strand Theatre.
Old Sanborn Maps compared to Google street views place the narrow building as an annex of Coen Furniture, next to Salon G.

If the address is correct, the identification of the building is wrong. 115-117 is part of the furniture store, but it is a wide building with a brick front that appears to date from after the closure of the theater. On the 1923 map, this appears to be a remodel of a two story brick building constructed between 1899 and 1907. It now appears as two separate buildings with the addresses 117 and 119. The block south of this is all two story buildings of an identical height, so obviously there’s been quite a bit of remodeling and replacement.
