Listed as open from 1870, it was operating as the Congress Theatre on August 31, 1908. On August 12, 1912 it was renamed Greeley’s Theatre. On September 1, 1919 it became the Gayety Theatre. On August 9, 1926 it was operating as the Colonial Theatre and was still operating with that name in 1941.

This opened as the Congress theatre on August 31st, 1908, and reopened as Greely’s on August 12th, 1912, and as Gayety on September 1st, 1919. After rebuilding, it reopened as the Colonial theatre on August 9th, 1926. Grand opening ads posted.
