Showplace ICON, operated by Tony and Dean Kerasotes, opened their sixth location and second in California January 18, 2019.
Included are wall-to-wall screens, 4K laser projection, Dolby Atmos sound and Dolby surround 7.1, RealD 3D, high frame rate projection, and three ICON-X screens.
Patron comforts include online reservation, heated recliners, a lobby lounge where food and drinks can be ordered, VIP seating for the 21 and older crowd, and private auditoriums for special events.
JPRA Architects designed the 10-screen theater with 1,100 recliners. It was closed on June 30, 2024. In November 2024 it was purchased by Alamo-Drafthouse and reopened on June 23, 2025.

Closed for year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the theater reopened on March 19, 2021.
Closed permanently with the rest of the Kerasotes ICON chain effective June 30, 2024.

Tragic to see this place close down after only being open for a few years. Knew many people that loved going here. I hope it’ll be reopened quickly.
This theater and another Showplace ICON theater in Mountain View have been purchased by Alamo Drafthouse and should be open by next summer.

Why in the world do they insist on Valley Fair mall to be in San Jose when it’s clearly in Santa Clara? Across Stevens Creek Boulevard The Santana Row formerly the Town & Country shopping center is in San Jose.
