The Sunset Drive-In was announced in 1949 when land adjoining the Edmonton Trail was acquired by investors. The Sunset Drive-In launched on May 5, 1950 with Gregory Peck in “Duel in the Sun”. The drive-in featured oiled ramps accommodating 750 cars. The Drive-in closed on September 14, 1986 with the appropriately-titled film, “Sudden Death” starring Denise Coward.
After hosting auctions for years, the facility was finally razed in 2003 to make way for the Centre Street Church.
