The Hamlin Drive-In Theatre was opened in late-1951 by Mrs. B.S. Ferguson, the operators of the Ferguson Drive-In. It was located south of town. In the 1980’s, the theatre showed X-rated films in addition to the traditional Hollywood fare. It had been demolished by 1984.

The Hamlin Drive-In Never Made A Grand Opening In 1951.
The Hamlin Drive-In First Opened Its Doors On March 8th, 1953 With “Apache War Smoke” Starring Gilbert Roland; According To The Hamlin Herald 2 Days Prior To Its Opening.
A home sits on the property now.
In the absence of stronger evidence, my guess was that the Hamlin’s March 1953 opener was just a season opener.
Boxoffice, Aug. 4, 1951: “Simplicity and economy keyed the construction of the new Hamlin Drive-In Theatre, Hamlin, Tex. Owned by Mrs. B. S. Ferguson, the 350-car Hamlin incorporates many comfort features and a few plus values for patrons. The all-steel screen tower is 56 feet high and 60 feet wide, and is covered with corrugated aluminum. The 25x30-foot concession building contains stainless steel equipment. Century projection machines were installed.”
A closer address is 8908 S Central Ave, Hamlin, TX.
Google Maps has updated their addresses and this puts it right on the property. Although the original entrance road that connects to US-83 is still present, there is no address on Google Maps for that.
By 1984, the drive-in had been totally demolished and a house built. But you can still make out the parch marks of the ramps on the southside of the property.
