Rick Smith, columnist for the San Angelo Standard-Times wrote in 2009 that the address for the Stardust Drive-In was 2501 N. Randolph (now the site of the Stardust Mobile Home Park, 25th Street and MLK Boulevard). The current address of that trailer park is 2501 Martin Luther King Drive.
The single-screen drive-in was visible in the 1954 photo at Historic Aerials, but the trailer park had replaced it by the 1972 photo. The back of its lot was probably intersected by the new four-lane US 87, which was built during that interval.
The Stardust Drive-In was in the first Theatre Catalog drive-in list. The 1948-52 Theatre Catalogs showed the Stardust Drive-In along (then?-)Highway 87, capacity 250 or 300, owner R. H. Hendrick who also operated the Twilite Drive-In. The 1955-56 edition changed the owner to Lee Williams.
The Motion Picture Almanac series always reported the Stardust Drive-In’s capacity as 550. The owner stayed R. H. Hendrick until the 1957 edition, when it changed to Lee Williams. It stayed on the MPA lists through the 1976 edition, even though it obviously had closed years earlier.
