Thomond Cinema

Located in Limerick, County Limerick. The Thomond Cinema was situated in the King’s Island area of the City and opened in 1936. It was equipped with a Western Electric, WE) sound system. It was run by Paver Dillon and noted for its serials. It closed down in 1972. It was one of the sites selected for beaming in the May 2009 event to screen films at old cinemas. The building was more recently occupied by Stix, a snooker club, but a take-away now appears to be the only occupant as of June 2017.
