The Strand Theatre launched on February 14, 1917 with Mary Pickford in “Less Than The Dust”. William “Bud” Hissner was in charge of the theatre. In 1920, the building received a refresh. The theatre building also held the Lebanon Gymnasium on its second floor, known for training boxers.
As theatres converted to sound, a decision was made to shutter the Strand Theatre. Its final show was June 14, 1929 with Bill Cody in “Wolves of the City”. In March of 1930, the Strand Building lease was taken on by the Moskin Credit Clothing Company which retrofitted the space for retail sales.
