The Quonset-Hut style Park Theatre launched by the Lexington Park Theatre Company, Inc. in 1949. The 750-seat theatre was built to serve both residents and personnel of the Patuxent River U.S. Naval Air Station. The single-screen venue lasted until June 12, 1986 closing with Sylvester Stallone in “Cobra.” A modern six-screen AMC venue opened June 20, 1986 essentially ending the single-screen location.
