Opened as Academy Cinema, the Luxury Home of the Classics on October 20th, 1972.
They showed great films. Kind Hearts and Coronets (1949), The Ladykillers (1955) etc. The only downside was the lobby cat would get bored and leave the warmth of the popcorn bin to walk beneath the seats, rub against your ankles and scare the … out of you.
