Aki Aktualitäten Kino Joachimsthaler Strasse Berlin 1952

Located in the west Berlin district of Charlottenburg, close to the Zoo Railway Station. The Aki Aktualitaten Kino am Zoo was opened in 1952. It was designed by architect Paul Schwebes for the operator Dr. Bernhard Frank, Aki Aktualitatenkino GmbH chain of newsreel cinemas. In the auditorium there was an illuminated clock beside the screen. The Aki screened non-stop newsreels, short documentaries and cartoons. The projectors were FP 5 by Phillips.

The Aki was closed in 1958 and was demolished.

In 1960 a new Aki was built and opened at nearby Hardenbergstrasse 27 (which has its own page on Cinema Treasures).
