The Foundry is a redevelopment of two and a half Loveland blocks and a new concept for Metropolitan Theatres, which celebrated a grand opening August 14, 2019. The Reporter-Herald reported Metropolitan Theatres opened their first theatre in Loveland in 1995.

OZ Architecture designed the seven-screen theatre, which has 600 automated recliners and an XL large format wall-to-wall screen with Barco 4k laser projection.

The theatre offered in-theatre dining and in the lobby was the Scripted Bar & Kitchen, open to the public without attending a movie. By September 2019 it had closed and was in use as a restaurant. It was announced in May 2026 that the building would be taken over by a church.

Joseph Corwin opened his first theatre, the Broadway Theatre, in Los Angeles in 1923 of which his son Sherrill became manager. In Metropolitan’s 1950 heyday it ran eight of the 20 downtown theatres. Sherrill also operated the four-location Music Hall chain, which included the Hawaii Theatre on Hollywood Boulevard. Noted for his philanthropy, the Los Angeles Times mentioned him as a board member of RKO Pictures under Howard Hughes and an investor in “The Poseidon Adventure" (1972).

Sherrill died in 1980 and today family members, Bruce and his son David operate 17 theatres in Colorado, California, Idaho, and Utah.
