The Cozy Theatre launched in downtown Tipton on September 16, 1927 in a building formerly housing a retail store. It was the third movie theatre for the town preceded by the Monarch Theatre and the new-build Dixie Theatre which replaced the Monarch Theatre in July of 1916.

The Cozy Theatre changed owners upgrading to sound and renaming as the Rogue Theatre on November 21, 1934 when it reopened screening Dick Powell in “Twenty Million Sweethearts”. According to new reports, the summer of 1943 was the theatre’s busiest period as the town had severe heat and the Rogue Theatre was one of the only air conditioned places in the area. The long-running venue got its last major refresh in 1963 - the look it had until closing permanently.
