Located in the Steele district to the east of Essen. The Steeler Theater was opened on 5th December 1908. It was operated by Klemens Utgenannt until 1925. In 1926 it was re-named Kammerlichtspiele and was operated by Webels, Max & Rosa Kopiek. In World War II the cinema was badly damaged by Allied bombs.
In 1951 the cinema was repaired and modernized to the plans of Duseldorf based architect Hanns Ruttgers. The auditorium colours were green, gray & brown. The FH 66 projectors were by Frieske & Hoepfner and a sound system was by Klangfilm. The seats were by Kamphoener. CinemaScope was installed around 1958/1959.
The cinema closed after 1965 and is in use as a toy shop named Vedes.
