Built in 1872 opening October 5 of that year under the name Industrial Institute Hall. Later, the name was changed to Grand Opera House. In 1886, another name change happened, this time to Columbia Theatre showing vaudeville shows. With the coming of moving pictures, the theater was repaired, reducing the original seating capacity from 2,400 persons to the final status of 1,800, reopening under the name of Jacob’s Theatre on August 24, 1912. After yet another name change to Family Theatre in 1916, the building underwent an inspection and was declared unsafe, ordered to close December 6, 1916. It was later demolished.
