The Modernes Theater was opened in 1925 and was operated by Joh. & Leo Uhles. In 1940 Menz & Jaeck took over. In 1941 the cinema was badly damaged by Allied bombs during World War II.
In 1949 it was reaired and re-opened as the Capitol FilmTheater. The E VII projectors were by Ernemann and a sound system by Klangfilm was installed. The size of the stage was 10x6.9 meters. The seats were by Schroeder & Henzelmann. The cinema was closed in 1971.
