The second movie house to bear the Star Cinema name opened in the fall of 2018 when Sandy Oliver, the owner of the Star Cinema on 3rd Street in downtown Sidney, relocated her operations to a temporary location close by on 9824 5th Street, in the former location of a furniture store, while the original Star Cinema was demolished soon after to make way for construction of a new condominium/retail project called the Cameo, which will incorporate a new, larger three-screen Star Cinema when the project is completed in mid-October 2022.
The current temporary Star Cinema location is in smaller quarters than the original theatre, housing a single screen seating just 70 patrons. It was closed on March 17, 2022.

According to the Star Cinema website, this location closed its doors on March 17, 2022, with an expected opening for the new three-screen Star Cinema coming in mid-October.
With the opening of the new Star Cinema now reported to happen on November 4, it’s time to change this theatre’s status to Closed.
