This was a rare new-build female owned (Lela Mason) and co-operated with L.D. Fletcher launching in 1929. She sublet it to W.S. Powers in 1932. A second female owner, Frances Pace took over the venue and converted it to widescreen to present CinemaScope titles beginning with “Trapeze” on March3, 1957. The Empress closed permanently with “It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World” on May 30, 1965. The Modern Beauty Salon took over the venue in June of 1966.
