Trojan Theatre

The Trojan Theatre opened on May 6, 1940 with Bob Burns in “Alias, the Deacon”. It was owned by Mr. and Mrs. Charles Rudolph who owned the Colonial Theatre that was destroyed by a fire on Christmas Day in 1939. They screened movies at the Bonfils Auditorium until the Trojan Theatre was completed.

The Trojan remained open until 1987. The building is now used by an accounting office with a small space to the left of the entrance being a pawn shop. There is still a ticket machine standing in the lobby and a matinee sign hanging over the ticket booth where the pawn shop displays its wares. The building was vacant in September 2019.

Google Streetview of Sept.2018 shows the matinee sign to be gone and the pawn shop unoccupied.

Opened with Bob Burns in “Alias The Deacon” (unknown if extras added). The Colonial Theatre fire happened on Christmas Day 1939, not 1949.
