Due to open in 1951 close to Idlewild Airport (today John F. Kennedy Airport). 1,100 cars, plus a waiting area for an extra 400 to 500 cars. Owned by Sidney M. Kain and L.P. Falk. Although construction was completed, planning was opposed by New York City planners and it never opened. Demolished(date unknown?). The site is now a parking lot for the airport.

aerial photo from the 1950’s.
Project was immediately opposed by New York City Planning Commission, but construction took place anyhow in belief that lawyers could eventually get permission. But NYC prevailed and International Airport Drive-In never opened. The aerial photo just shows what might have been.
Was that aerial photo of another drive-in tneatre?
Though some construction took place, the drive-in never opened. Why is it being listed here? A similar attempt to list was made several years ago, and then removed for lack of factual evidence.
There are so many supposed to be theaters: D150 at Gardiner Manor, Bay Shore, NY; unnamed Century Theater on Hillside Avenue in Bellerose, Queens, NY; unnamed theaters in Freeport and Lindenhurst, NY; unnamed Century Theater in Huntington Station, NY; unnamed multiplex in Central Islip, NY; etc.. These are just on Long Island, NY of my personal knowledge.
What I have done is mention these on an existing theater on CT for historical purposes.
