Opened around 1960 as an Off-Broadway live theatre. It became an adult cinema, which was part of the Seymore Domore and New Era Cinema chains, opening on July 5, 1968. Listings ended in 1972 but it may have survived into the 1990’s.

The Mermaid Theatre, together with the Masque and Maidman Theatres, was constructed by developer Irving Maidman as an off-Broadway venue around 1960. Apparently it didn’t remain in that capacity for even a decade.
