This the theater where they filmed the infamous Nicole kidman commercial about heartbreak feeling good in a movie theater.
My Dolby doesn’t have lit up speaker either, just the sides, I think it is cause of the conversion of Prime to Dolby.
I finally made it out to this theater after the opening was pushed from 2019 to 2020 and then to 2021. There are two bigger theaters (Dolby Cinema and Prime) and 7 smaller ones in this complex.
We went to see In The Heights in the Dolby theater. It was a bit smaller than I would have liked to see. The screen is about 45 ish feet wide and they use those half recliner seats that make your legs go numb after a while. However, the image and sound was just spectacular. None of the speakers were lit up like at other Dolby Cinemas, and the Atmos array was really loud and noticeable.
I peaked into the other theaters and it seems like the Prime Screen might be a bit larger. The other auditoriums are smaller, and have decent screens, although none with masking and all Common Width. I would still venture out to Burbank or Hollywood for ‘event’ films to see on much larger screens, but to have a Dolby Cinema out in the west valley is an improvement for this part of LA.
