Panorama Filmtheater I

Located in the east Berlin district of Neukolln. Originally at this site was the Knesebeck Palast cinema, which was destroyed by Allied bombs in 1942 (it has its own page on Cinema Treasures).

The Panorama Filmtheater I was opened in 1954 and was designed by architect Gerhard Fritsch, who designed other Berlin cinemas such as the Zooo Palast, Maxim in the Tiergarten district, MGM Filmtheater, and Panorama in the Zahlendorf district and Panorama II in the Neukolln district (all of which have their own pages on Cinema Treasures). The Panorama Filmtheater I contained a CinemaScope screen and a 4-channel stereophonic sound system. The green/silver coloured seats were by Schroeder & Heinzelmann and were all on a single sloping floor. The walls were covered in Acella in a gold colour. It was operated by Dr. Fritz Seifert.

In 1977 the Panorama Filmtheater I was closed. The building has been converted into apartments. The façade has been retained.
