Silky Otter Cinemas opened July 31, 2021, at The Landing Wigram Skies Town Center with eight auditoriums and 48 leather recliners each. Designed by Spaceworks, the cinemas are equipped with laser projection and 7.1 surround sound.

Silky Otter Cinemas, described as boutique-style, have a full-service kitchen and serves beer and wine with food with food delivered to your seat.

Headed by Robert Jeromson, Neil Lambert and Ahmed Almukhtar, the Christchurch location is Silky Otter’s second location after the opening in Remuera, Auckland in September 2019.
