The Arcade Theatre was located in what had been a Baptist Church, constructed sometime before 1884. The church was a simple wooden structure with a peaked roof and a steeple on the front. By 1903, it had been expanded in the rear with a single-story brick addition that ran across the back.

First shown as a theatre on the 1908 map, this was at first unchanged, and sat alone on the angled corner. Between 1914 and 1925, a row of small single story brick shops was built running south along Spring Street, and then around the corner in front of the theatre. One of these now served as the entrance, although the steeple is still shown on the old structure. At this point the brick section in the rear was greatly expanded all the way to Short Street (which is now gone). The Arcade Theatre was still open in 1957.

This entire corner, including a few streets, has been drastically changed. Everything on the north side was long ago demolished, and the corner where the theatre was located is now a park.

This must have been the house called the Arcade Theatre. This web page says that “[t]he Arcade Theater (ca. 1908) no longer stands, having been demolished for the redevelopment project that created the small parklet and mall on the north side of Pittsburgh Street from Broadway Street to Spring Street.” The Arcade was listed in the 1914-1915 American Motion Picture Directory.
