Theatre

This theatre first appears on the 1909 Sanborn, in the old Teutonia (also rendered as Teutonic) Hall, which was built sometime before 1886.

The structure was one story, built in brick, with a high peaked roof. It was still shown as a hall on the 1901 map.

The theatre remained in operation on the 1922 map, but it would shortly face competition from the far larger and more modern Central Theatre. Surely closed many years ago, the structure, somewhat remodeled, serves as the local VFW Post.

Photos from the ‘70s show this already used as the VFW, but the original brick front wall of the old structure hadn’t been covered in siding.
