The Majestic Theatre was built sometime around 1912, and operated by Louis Cohn and William Waldron, who also owned the Waldron Opera House (later the Broadway Theatre.) Louis' brother Charles M. Cohn was the pianist. The Majestic Theatre succumbed to a fire on the morning of March 28, 1924, a blaze that destroyed more than $50,000 in property, and led to the modernization of the Haverstraw Fire Department. In 1926, plans were drafted to build a larger theatre on the site, but fell through. The current location is now roughly where Haverstraw Village Hall is today.
