The Johnson & Saunders Circuit launched the Ridge Drive-In on Washington Road south of Westminster on May 7, 1954 with George Montgomery in “The Pathfinder” supported by a second feature and five cartoons. Price was $1.25 per carload. Bob Saunders handled the bookings.
Beginning on April 16, 1960, William C. and Irene Cockey opened the venue that season as Cockey’s Ridge Drive-In Theatre with Audie Murphy in “Ride a Crooked Trail” and William Reynolds in “The Big Beat”. A new high school was built in 1971 that led to problems of light leakage for the venue. It closed for the season with James Garner in “Support Your Local Gunfighter” and James Garner in “Support Your Local Sheriff” on October 11, 1971.
The Cockeys Drive-In filed suit against the high school that didn’t bring about requested changes. The drive-in didn’t open for the 1972 season and the land was rezoned as residential ending the ozoner’s run.

A closer address is 1037 Washington Road, Westminster, MD. A 1971 topo map shows a drive-in on the east side of the road.
By 1979, a number of homes were established on the site with Marydell Drive replacing the entrance road. Today, there is no trace of the drive-in.
