The Pines Theatre opened its doors on March 17, 1965 with Brian Keith in “Those Callaways”. It was owned by Kent Theatres Inc. of Jacksonville.

After just 14 years of first-run success, the theatre sat vacant after closing in 1979. The following year in 1980, the Pines Theatre was remodeled and reopened, and after just a single year, it changed its name to the Pines Theatre ‘N’ Pub in 1981, still running first-run. In 1990, the theatre changed its name once again to the Pines Cinema ‘N’ Pub.

It was closed on June 10, 1993 with Clint Eastwood in “Unforgiven” and Walt Disney’s “Homeward Bound” as its last films.

Disturbing and concerning shocker the day this iconic inspiring family friendly theater begin tumbling downward away from it’s true origins I can’t believe this is the final outcome of it’s destiny,I often still pass by and reflect on the many joyous countless memories me my family and friends had enjoying so much exciting fun at this movie 🍿πŸŽ₯ theater,I never could’ve imagined that they would agree to turned it to and “pub” I knew it was destined to fail because it’s not family friendly anymore and to this day there’s still no movie theater in the city of cocoa and that’s very sad because since the closing the cocoa high football team has captured it’s 6th straight state championship and the kids don’t even have and movie theater nor bowling alley or entertaining exciting fun shopping mall, the city of cocoa deserves better.
