Opened June 27, 1986 this AMC theatre seated 2,275. A large multiplex across from Northwest Plaza Mall. A red brick building with bright red trim around the exterior. As you entered the the outer lobby the box office with four windows was located in the center. The theatre lobby itself was very striking with a tiered dome like ceiling. Iridescent lighting within the tiers of the ceiling. A large concession area centered at the back wall of the lobby with auditorium entrances on each side. The Northwest never did a turn away business and when AMC was unable to negotiate a new lease the theatres closed in 2000. It is now the Northwest Square Church.

I always enjoyed coming here in the summers I spent in St. Louis during my teenage years. LOTS AND LOTS of theatre hopping! :)
Only went there once, for a free screening of Transformers: The Movie. (The original animated one, not the Michael Bay movie.)
I went to this theater a few times. Saw the first Batman movie (with Michael Keaton) here and the last movie I saw here was Rocky 5, about a month before I moved to Southern California. Although it wasn’t my favorite place, I actually liked it better than the Northwest 9 inside the mall.
The first two movies I saw there were StandBy Me and Transformers the Movie where they killd Optimus Prime and the rest of the transformers. People thre stuff at the screen, booed and yelled, kids cried, and prople walked out! Great times there a lot of movies I saw there, the last I saw was With Honors. Miss that theater
