The Sunset Theater opened June 14, 1940 with Jackie Cooper in “Seventeen”. It had extra wide aisle seats to sit couples (called love seats). It was last known to being used by a car dealer. It was demolished in around 2005.

Still being used by Glenway Chevrolet. For years before that, it was a bingo hall. A very popular one, too.
After this cinema venue closed it became a Knights Of Columbus Hall before resurfacing, years later, becoming an Ackerman Chevrolet showroom. Ackermans were owners of several moviehouses in the Price Hill-Covedale area starting with The Glenway, The Sunset Th., and The Covedale Theater.
F&Y Construction out of Columbus,Ohio was the building company of this venue and Fred W. Stritzel was their designer for our Sunset Th.
Hello Chuck, This site is now part of the Carson School Complex. Sunset was the first Cincy cinema to use black lighting interior-wise,but I don’t know how!
