The Star Theatre opened in 1907 and was located on Amusement Row in Downtown Erie, which was an area of theatres in the 1100 block of State Street which included the Princess Theatre, Grand Theatre and the Star Theatre. The theatre was doing very well up until the 1930’s when the theatre closed in 1934.
It was reopened on June 11, 1981 as an adult movie theatre named Modern News Theatre. It was closed in April 1986. The space is now used as the Modern Adult store.

Ads for this theatre disappeared in 1916. It may went on until 1934.
This same space later became the Modern News adult theater.
