The Namba Parks Cinema opened its doors on April 19, 2007, featuring 11 screens and a 2,164-seat capacity. It was the second-largest modern movie theater in Osaka and the Kansai Region (with the first being the 12-screen Osaka Station City Cinema) located on the 6th-10th floors inside the Namba Parks commercial facility which was located at a former site of the former Osaka Stadium, home of NPB’s Nankai Hawks (currently Fukuoka Softbank Hawks).
Right at the time the cinema opened, the total number of visitors since the opening of the entire building in 2003 massively grew to nearly 29.2 million, which greatly exceeded the target of the previous 21 million visitors.
