Along with the Ario Yao commercial complex/shopping center, the MOVIX Yao opened its doors on December 4, 2006 with 12-screens and a 2,436 seating capacity.
It was the largest modern movie theater in the eastern side of the Osaka Prefecture although it was one out of three largest modern cinemas in Osaka.
