This theater, Guttenberg’s first, was opened in 1910 in a building constructed in 1876 by August Heune to house the family store. The building was a good-sized two-story brick structure with the front slightly angled outward due to the shape of the lot.
This early theater was not a success despite its central location, and the April 1914 Sanborn shows the building as vacant. Today it is in good shape, but due to the exceptionally poor streetview coverage in this part of the state, the function cannot be determined.

Internet gives this as the address of a chiropractic clinic (Dr. Scott Scherer, DC). I hoped Bing Maps might have a better street view, as they sometimes do, but they don’t have any at all for this location.
It’s really frustrating. Even larger towns have one pass through on the US highway, and no side streets. Seems to be a pretty large area of NE Iowa.
